Make time after landing

Once you know when you can reach the hotel, call to check a time for shiatsu at Namikoshi Shiatsu Salon. Same-day visits are possible when a slot is available.

Use the date and time in Japan (JST, UTC+9) when booking, even if your phone still shows the time at home. The “today” and “tomorrow” shown in our booking bar refer to Japan time.

Arrange your arrival day

From the hotel to the salon

Main Building Mezzanine

You can visit whether or not you are staying at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo. Ask any hotel staff for “Namikoshi Shiatsu” if you need directions.

Five minutes before

Please be at the salon five minutes before your appointment. On your first visit, you will fill in an intake form before the session.

Clothes and changing

You can arrive in the clothes you wore for your journey. Sessions are usually given in a gown we provide. If changing is difficult, we will adjust to your needs case by case.

Before you arrive

The restrooms are outside the salon in the hotel’s shared area. Please use them before coming to the salon if needed.

Tell us when booking

If you are pregnant, have a chronic medical condition or are under medical care, please let us know when you book. Depending on your condition, we may ask you to postpone your session.

Shiatsu is a practice based on the national licence of Anma Massage Shiatsu Practitioner. It is not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a physician.

Planning your visit

Can every course start at 19:00?
Yes. The last start is 19:00 JST for all three lengths: 60, 90 and 120 minutes. Please call during opening hours to check availability.
What if my phone shows a different date?
Please give the date and time in Japan (JST, UTC+9) for your appointment. Our booking bar also uses Japan time for “today” and “tomorrow”, regardless of your device’s time zone.
Can I book for the morning after arrival?
The salon opens at 11:00 JST every day, so morning sessions can start from 11:00, subject to availability. Choose a course that leaves enough time for your next plans.
Should I wait for an email reply on arrival day?
Please call +81-3-3581-7354 during opening hours for a same-day request. Email replies may arrive during the next day’s opening hours, so sending an email does not secure a session for that day.

Check a time for today

Call with your arrival-day plans during opening hours. For a later date, you can also send an email request.

Which traditional Japanese wellness practices can I experience in Tokyo?

Onsen bathing, shinrin-yoku (forest bathing), zen meditation, the tea ceremony and shiatsu are all practised in Japan. Shiatsu was established under that name by Tokujiro Namikoshi in 1925, and it entered the title of Japanese law in 1964. It is performed by holders of the national Anma Massage Shiatsu Practitioner licence, and at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo, mezzanine of the Main Building, it is carried on by the fourth generation of his family.

I’d like to experience uniquely Japanese wellness in Tokyo. How long does a shiatsu session take?

Shiatsu is a technique that originated in Japan in 1925. No equipment, oils or medication are used — only the fingers and palms. Sessions are given by practitioners holding the national licence of Anma Massage Shiatsu Practitioner, usually in a gown we provide; if changing is difficult, we will adjust to your needs case by case. Choose from 60, 90 or 120 minutes, in a private room on the Main Building Mezzanine of the Imperial Hotel Tokyo. Shiatsu is performed under Japan’s national Anma Massage Shiatsu Practitioner licence and is not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a physician.
